A Few Scenes From the Bay This Morning
While I was out waiting on the Red-footed Booby to show again, I spent some time watching the regular crowd working the shrimp boats. With the warm temps we’ve been having, the bay felt alive early, and the birds were already busy - Laughing Gulls, Brown Pelicans, and terns grabbing whatever opportunities the nets gave them.
Nothing rare here, just the everyday rhythm of Corpus Christi Bay, but it’s always worth a few frames. Shrimp boats draw in a whole cast of characters, and mornings like this are a reminder of why I never mind the wait. I worry that one day in the not so distant future the sight of these shrimp boats might not be a thing anymore. Each year it feels like fewer shrimp boats are in the marina, and even fewer are going out daily.
